Michael Angarano, Sam Rockwell and Jemaine Clement (pictured) have signed to star in “Gentlemen Broncos,” Jared Hess’ comedy being produced by Mike White and Ben LeClair, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The script, written by Hess and his wife, Jerusha Hess, follows a high school outcast (Angarano) who attends a camp for writers where his story gets ripped off by a legendary fantasy novelist named Ronald Chevalier (Clement).
Rockwell will play the fictional story’s title character who appears in book-come-to-life sequences under two guises: one in the teen’s story and one in the author’s story.
Production is set to start in March. White and LeClair, who worked with Jared Hess on “Nacho Libre,” are producing via their Ripcord banner.
So who are these people, and where have you seen them?
Find out after the jump…
Jared Hess wrote and directed a little film called “Napoleon Dynamite.” I say “little” in jest, because it’s one of the best runaway indie hits ever.
Michael Angarano played Sid in “Lords of Dogtown” and Will Stronghold in “Sky High.” But “24″ fans will recognize him from Season 6. He played Scott Wallace, the kid held hostage by Ahmed, who threatened to kill Scott and his mom while his dad delivered a terrorist package.
Sam Rockwell has been in a slew of movies and TV shows, including last year’s “Snow Angels,” in which he played Glenn. You’ll see him this year in “Choke” and “Frost/Nixon.”
And Jemaine Clement is the co-creator, writer and star of HBO’s comedy “Flight of the Conchords.”
